Best Pokemon decks in the current format!

There are plenty of different decks and ideas that might sound good of late – such as the Tapu Koko/Mega Alakazam EX for example. But today we are going to just talk about some tier one decks.

So let's start with the Golisopod GX/Garbodor deck. Golisopod GX can attack for a single grass energy for 120 if he moves from the bench to the active position. With the Choice band, his damage can be output up to a 150! With a single energy, and 210HP, that is just insane! On the other side, we have cards such as Acerola and Guzma, which will just help this deck to be even more powerful. Once the opponents manage to deal some damage to Golisopod, Acerola can simply scoop him back into your hand. On the other hand, Garobodor can stop abilities with his “Garbotoxic” ability, and Garbodor with the “Trashalance” ability can simply K.O. anyone in the late game with a single energy. Golisopod GX/Garbodor is definitely a strong pick for the current meta.

This deck is strong against Stage 1/2 decks, but weak to the fire decks that can set up fast – such as Volcanion EX.

Gardevoir GX is also an interesting pick for the current meta. It’s a tier two deck, but once it's set up, there is almost nothing that can stop it. Gardevoir GX can attach energy cards from your hand with an ability - so in theory if you have two Gardevoir GX in play, we can have two fairy energy attached from the hand as the ability and one manually from your hand as a regular turn attachment. Some

other cards that can make this deck even more powerful are Diance, Gallade (with the Permission) and of course, Octillery - with the ability that allows us to draw cards until we have 5. This is the strongest deck against heavy energy decks, but it's also durable. Some other cards like Acerola can help this deck become even more powerful, as well as the Sylveon GX that can help us in a Metagross GX matchup.

Garbodor/Drampa GX, a well known deck, is also a very powerful deck that can setup fast and deal a ton of damage. It can even trade one prize for two prizes! Garbodor can disrupt the opponents abilities, and can deal so much damage for a single energy. It can also limit your opponents items in play. Po town can also help against stage 1/2 decks, forcing opponents to take 3 damage when they evolve. With the Tapu Koko damage spread and Espeon EX as a tech, this deck can easily destroy any stage 1/2 deck. On the other side, Drampa GX can be set up to deal 180 damage at turn 2, which is more than enough to take 2 prize advantages knocking out opponents 180 or less EX/GX like Tapu Lele GX.

This deck is strong against literally any deck, but it can be very bad against Golisopod deck. Theoretically Golisopod can be countered with couple of Parallel Cities, but then it can lose on consistency.

Alolan Ninetales GX is powerful water deck that easily destroys any stage 1/2 deck, simply by spreading damage around with a Tapu Koko/Alolan Ninetales GX. With a regular Alolan Ninetales, this deck becomes even more powerful. Ice path GX is one of the best attacks in the game. This deck can also win a lot against those stage 1/2 decks that don’t run cards like Pokemon Ranger, simply by playing one Glaceon EX. Cards like Aqua Patch give this deck extra acceleration as well. The Professor Kukkui and Choice Band combo works well for 1HKO against popular 210 HP Pokemon like Golisopod GX. This deck is strong against almost any deck, but especially against stage 1/2 decks and the Volcanion deck. However it can easily lose against a Metagross GX deck if Metagross sets up fast. However, with the Tapu Koko/Espeon EX tech, even that can be fixed.

There are two more decks we can talk about on the list, so let's say few words about the Volcanion EX, with Kiawe and Ho- Oh GX. A Volcanion deck can have a good matchup against water decks, since Ho-Oh is not weak against water Pokemon. Fighting Fury Belt will add even more HP to the Ho- Oh/Volcanion combo. This deck can 1HKO anything in the current standard format - amazing. Baby Volcanion can strike hot for a single energy, plus it can accelerate benched Pokemon with energies from the discard pile. With some other cards like Guzma, this deck works even better, because Ho-Oh or Volcanion EX can't attack twice in the row. Max Elixir will also provide additional acceleration should you require it. Overall, this deck can beat any other deck especially if you can start first with T1 Kiawe/Ho-Oh GX.

Finally, we will say few words about the Metagross GX deck. It's a super cool deck to be played with Alolan Ninetales GX and Neceozma GX as the tech. With the help of the Alolan Ninetales GX 2-1, and Necrozma GX - the Metagross GX deck can easily beat a Volcanion/Turtonator deck. Speaking of Volcanion/Ho-Oh/Kiawe deck - it’s would be hard, but not impossible to win. Once Metagross is set up, it's simply an unstoppable force with 180 damage output or 150 per turn. With the advantages of the Max Potions, this deck is even harder to beat. Overall, It’s not great against fire decks and of course against Garbotoxin & Garbodor decks, but with 3 Field Blowers it can beat Garb pretty easily!
