Mega Gardevoir Returns!

Hello Pokemon fans! today we will be looking at the Mega Gardevoir EX deck. We all know how this is a GX format, but some of the old EX Pokemon somehow managed to survive the rotation and Mega Gardevoir is one of them! Something special about Mega Gardevoir EX is obviously his dual type (psy/fairy), which means he can 1 HKO Buzzwole GX easily - but it can also be a 1 HKO by the Buzz as well. It's also quite strong also against Zoroark G, since Mega Gardevoir EX has -20 resistance to the dark Pokemon type. The main Gardevoir problem is the Mega evolution rule. If we want to put Mega Gardevoir EX in play, we have to end our turn, or have at least a Gardevoir Spirit Link. With Mega Gardevoir Spirit Link, this might help a bit, but it will also take three card spaces. The Despair Ray attack for two energy is also really good. The base damage for Despair Ray is 110 but it can hit for 10 more for each Pokemon we discarded from our bench. In theory, it can go up to 160, and with some other cards like the Choice Band and Kukkui could add 50 more damage, making the total damage 210. Still not the best for consistency though!

Mega Gardevoir is a strong Buzzwole GX counter but it can also be good against many other decks in the current format. Some other cool Pokemon cards in this deck are Xerneas with the Geomancy for the energy acceleration, Kartana GX with the Slice Off ability. Slice Off ability that says "Whenever you play this Kartana GX from hand onto bench, we can discard a special energy card from one of our opponents Pokemon in play." So in theory, we can use Kartana GX multiple times with that Dragonite EX Pull Up ability that says "when we play Dragonite EX from hand onto our bench, we can put two basic Pokemon from our discard pile back into our hand, )expect Dragonite EX)." Since the current format is a heavy special energy format, Kartana GX  comboed with the Dragonite EX is a really nice tech play.

Magearna with the "Change Clothes" ability can also help us to save our spirit links so we can have much better chance to get Mega Gardevor EX into the play without ending our turn due to Mega evolution rule. The last tech is Oranguru with the "Instruct" ability that can save us in the late game with the draw. For the set up, we would play two Hoopa EX and three Tapu Lele GX.

Some other tech item cards are Enhanced Hammer. We love Enhanced Hammer so much - it can really help us to slow down our opponents that play heavy special energy decks. Fairy Drop is also a nice tech, it can heal 50 damage from one of our Pokemon that has any fairy energy attached to it. Zoroark GX can go up to 130 with a full bench and Choice Band. If we use a double Fairy Drop, then we can simply reduce the damage to 30 and stay in play for next two turns. Puzzle of Time is also a good tech card for this build. There are nine draw supporters (three of each N, Sycamore and Cynthia) as well as three Guzma and one Diantha that act as the double Puzzle of Time if one of our fairy Pokemon was K.O. during our opponents last turn.

This is a really interesting deck with a lot of potential for the current standard format. It can be even stronger in the expanded format with some other cards like the Mega Turbo and DImension Valley.
