Our experience with the Alolan Ninetales deck!

HI Guys - Pokemon TCG Center here! For the past few weeks, I have played with the Alolan Ninetales deck, one from the Guardians Rising set and the other from Burning Shadows. I had so many great moments and big plays with this deck, that I must say I'm very pleased with the deck performance and its ability to win in any battle vs any top tier deck in the current standard format. For me, the biggest play was when I got five prize cards in just a single turn with my Volcanion against a Malamar/Necrozma deck.

Alolan Ninetales with Luminous Barrier makes this deck so strong, because with the ability I could easily play around heavy GX decks like Rayquaza GX/Zeraora GX, Blacephalon/Naganadel, Zoroark/Decidueye and many more. Typically, all those decks can tech some non GX attackers, but they are not usually built to be able to take few prize cards with a single non GX attacker vs few Luminous Barrier Ninetales. The weakest thing about Luminous Barrier Ninetales is definitely 110 HP.

The Necrozma and Malamar combo was a little bit of a problem for me, but once I managed to find a way to play against that deck! There was no chance for my opponent to do anything - I just used my Tapu Koko for damage spread, Volcanion for opponent Pokemon switch and then I simply set a couple K.O. in a single turn. We all know that once we are able to clear all of our opponent's Malamar from bench, they won’t have time to set a new lineup and at that moment, we can power our Alolan Ninetales GX quickly with some Aqua Patches and 1 HKO anything with Blizzard Edge.

The thing I like the most about this deck is definitely Jet Geyser Volcanion, which can target an opponents bench and force them to switch their active Pokemon with one of those from the bench.

I also used one Deoxys with Psychic to counter those Buzzwole GX decks. We all know that Deoxy can 1 HKO Buzzwole GX with just a single DCE+Choice Band combo if Buzz have three energy cards.

Ice Path GX is one of the strongest GX attacks in the game in my opinion. Each time my opponent couldn't 1 HKO my Ninetales GX, I just used Ice Path GX and moved all the damage counters from Ninetales GX to my opponent's Active Pokemon.

Many top tier decks like the couple of them from the last Roanoke Regionals don't have strong non GX attacker, for example Zoro/Deci deck had only Larvitar, Jimmy's Gardy had two Swampert's but still I think how this deck would have a great chance against all top tier decks.

There is also a few possible tech cards that could make this deck even better, Prism Star Ditto/Magcargo/Alolan Muk tech.

Here is my deck list:
