Pure fire: Unbroken bonds is here!

Hello everyone! This is Elena from Gaia Storm TCG and as always it is a pleasure to be here once again. In today’s article we are going to explore the most recent expansion from Pokémon TGC: Unbroken Bonds. This is the tenth expansion from the Sun and Moon era and one of the largest sets we’ve ever had. It will for sure be a demanded set given that it holds lots of value for collectors as well as for competitive players. Let’s take a look at the best cards and how they might affect the game!

While in the previous set, Team Up, it was lightning the type that got an undeniable boost, this time fire Pokémon will receive an bunch of items and tools to become as powerful as ever. Reshiram & Charizard Tag Team is similar to Pikachu & Zekrom in the sense that it is the iconic big star from set, capable of beating anything with its searing attacks. Now, Reshiram can be powered with a strong combination of acceleration and searching cards like Welder, Red Crystal, Kiawe and Flint. This ensures meeting the energy requirements in an easy and consistent way during the game. Along with Reshiram, there are other worthy fire attackers. Baby Blacephalon can become a sturdy one prize attacker deck, Volcanion is an interesting secondary option and Salazzle provides constant draw power.

This expansion also features new Tag Teams combining some popular Pokémon. Lucario and  Melmetal are the next big stall celebrity, while Gardevoir and Sylveon exploit energy acceleration. Those two Tag Teams are the ones which will probably see more play after Reshiram as they are already winning in Japan. Then, Muk and Alolan Muk create the ultimate poison condition and Machamp & Marshadow punish the opponent for KOing your Pokemon. A special case is Buzzwole and Pheromosa GX, which requires a ton of energy for its optimal GX move but can take up to 6 prizes in one hit if they knock out another Tag Team!

There are also very interesting items and supporter coming from the set. For instance, the new stadium Power Plant shuts down GX abilities (will it finally prevent Zoroark GX form winning over?) and Green’s Exploration has become a very popular supporter in Japan. Triple Acceleration energy is for sure a welcome addition for evolution centered decks although it can only be used for just one turn.

In conclusion, there are lots of promising cards from the last expansion even if we have just listed a few of the here. Be quick to grab your favourites here at CCG before they are no longer available. Thanks for reading!
